Besides merchant sea ports, there are also four fishery sea ports in Ukraine, i.e. those of Ilichevsk, Sevastopol, Kerch and Mariupol, which used to be supervised by the Fisheries Department of the Ministry for Agriculture and Industry. Of those four, only Ilyichevsk and Mariupol fishery sea ports are joint-stock enterprises.
Due to the abrupt fall of fishery products input in Ukraine, the fishery ports almost entirely turned to handling of the same range of cargoes that our merchant seaports. Cargo handling has also become a mainstay for many shipbuilding and repair yards that are suffering from the lack of orders for their main products and services.
